Pick Background ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Pick Background Chrome extension and website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in with Google, we collect your email address, name, and Google account ID. This information is used to create and manage your Pick Background account.

Matching Rules

We store the rules you create — the meeting-title patterns you choose and the corresponding background URLs (the image URLs of tiles already available in your Google Meet picker) — along with any per-provider default background you select. This is necessary to apply the right background and to sync your rules across devices.

Payment Information

If you subscribe to Pick Background Pro, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. We only store Stripe customer and subscription IDs to manage your subscription status.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• Meeting titles never leave your browser. The extension reads the title of the meeting you're about to join and compares it against your rules locally. We do not transmit meeting titles to our servers.
• We do not record or process your meeting audio, video, chat, or any meeting contents.
• We do not track your browsing history or the websites you visit outside of Google Meet.
• We do not collect any data from web pages other than the meeting title and the list of background tile labels on meet.google.com.
• We do not sell or share your personal information.
• We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the Pick Background service
• Authenticate your account
• Process subscription payments
• Sync your matching rules and defaults across devices
• Send important service-related communications

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Google Cloud Platform servers located in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure authentication tokens.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google OAuth: For account authentication
• Stripe: For payment processing
• Google Cloud Platform: For hosting and data storage

Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data.

Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes.
